It’s 1933, in the middle of nowhere, Missouri. ALEX and BRANDY arrive, seeking shelter from a freak storm when their car breaks down in front of a bus stop-over managed by SY. While STRING, the station’s mechanic repairs their car, ROSIE, the station whore, suspects the young couple are bank robbers on the run.
ROGARD arrives, bad blood evident between him, Alex, and Brandy. Rogard tried to doublecross them during the robbery but ended up left at the bank to face the law alone. Now he is after revenge, the money, and Brandy.
Rosie makes a deal with the young couple; she will help them get away from Rogard in exchange for a grubstake and a one-way bus ticket out of her own personal Hell.
PASTOR and MRS. FOLLETT arrive, a evangelizing duo who have been preaching the gospel in the area during which time, several brutal kidnappings and murders have occurred.
The storm gets worse. The bus arrives, road conditions forcing WYNN, the driver, to weather the storm at the station. The only passenger on board is federal Marshall BUCKTHORN, who hauls in a metal box on wheels. Locked within is BOONE, a crazed thrill-killer and, as he warns everyone, whose family are in ferocious pursuit to free Boone.
Attempt to leave the station fail. Boone’s family eventually reaches the bus-stopover and surrounds it, determined to slaughter everyone to free Boone.
It’s then the trapped travelers discover Boone’s family outside is not human... and neither is Boone.
